I don’t think there could’ve been any better story to read first thing this morning. Our dear friend Cindy Sheehan was Arrested at the Capitol last night prior to the State of the Union address. She was invited to the event by Representative Lynn Woolsey, Democrat from *gasp* California.
“I’m proud that Cindy’s my guest tonight,” Woolsey said in an interview before the speech. “She has made a difference in the debate to bring our troops home from Iraq.”
Sheehan was wearing a t-shirt underneath another article of clothing, but decided to expose her anti-war slogan garment as she took her seat in Gallery 5. She was warned by police that such a protest wasn’t allowed, but she didn’t acknowledge their comments. This leads me to believe that like the rest of her shenanigans, it’s all a publicitiy stunt. She’ll no doubt be on countless telelvision and radio shows in the coming days. I really shouldn’t help by giving her any more press, but I just love to point out the fact that the woman is getting closer and closer to becoming certifiably insane.
She was originally charged with “demonstrating in the Capitol building” but the charge was later corrected to “unlawful conduct” – both are misdemeanor offenses. Now there’s something to be proud of, Ms. Woosley.
