This Slashdot story brings me the worst news I’ve heard on the Linux front in quite some time. As regular readers and friends know, I am a die-hard Suse user and one of the main reasons I love it is because of KDE. Apparently Novell is planning to move all their interface developments on Novell Linux Desktop and Suse Enterprise Server to Gnome. From the article:
KDE libraries will be supplied on both, but the bulk of Novell’s interface moving forward will be on GNOME.
At least THAT is somewhat good news. The article which Slashdot linked to also stated that full KDE support will continue to to exist in OpenSuse. Guess that’s what I’ll be moving to in the future. Or just be happy with Suse Linux 10 – so far I am.
