I updated my Thinkpad to Suse Linux 10.0 this morning and I have to say that I’m quite impressed. There’s the typical Novell stuff that comes with every release of Suse – new splash screens and wallpapers, but most notably is the HUGE speed increase that I’ve noticed in KDE. I’m guessing there was something rather dramatic changed in X.org or the ATI drivers, but no matter what it was, it’s quite welcome here on my laptop. Not that things were slow before, but there is virtually ZERO lag now when minizing, maximizing, or alt+tabbing between open programs. Color me happy so far. I just popped in the 10.0 CD’s and clicked “Update” instead of “New Install” and less than 30 minutes later, I’m back up and running. It’s that easy. So why not go upgrade yourself?
