Since becoming a Linux user, I always hate with a passion going to the Windows command prompt for anything other than a simple ‘ping’ and even that is goofy because you have to specify the -t for my usual desired output. The extreme flexibility available in a Linux shell is just incredible, so this is good news – but I really question this comment:
‘It will exceed what has been delivered in Linux and Unix for many years’, so says Bob Muglia, a Senior VP at Microsoft.
I honestly hope its true because interacting with Windows will always be a part of my job. But, at the same time, I seriously doubt it will be that good. At least it might be an improvement.
Edit: I should clarify that this won’t be in Longhorn, but rather in a future version of Windows Server.
