wp screwupdate

Thing of this post kinda like that puzzle type on Wheel of Fortune, Before & After.

First, there’s the WP Screw Up from yesterday. I made a copy of my WP database so I could try an upgrade install of the up and coming WordPress 1.3. Long story short, I ended up running the upgrade.php script on the wrong database, the original one instead of the copy. Luckily it didn’t break anything except the status of my plugins, which I just now noticed after a quite eventful day in the life of my comments. Thanks to everyone for your input!

Now as far as the update is concerened, WP 1.3 is coming. Shouldn’t be but a few more weeks at the most I would venture a guess since the nightly’s version numbers are starting to be named “1.3 alpha x.” Along with the launch of WP 1.3 will be the relaunch of wantmoore.com, sporting a shiny and new color scheme, sexy layout, and better than ever organization. So here’s my call to you readers: if there’s ANYTHING you think wantmoore.com needs or if you just have general suggestions, now’s a good time to let me know. The WordPress 1.3 release has added static pages to it’s already fantastic list of features, and I will PROUDLY be using WordPress to power every inch of this domain and maybe even a few others. There’s a pre-alpha version already running over on Matt’s site, but I bet you can’t even tell.

And in other geek-related news today, Linux is on the laptop – and it’s staying. SuSE 9.1 Personal was the installed flavor today. While neither the Netgear FA511 10/100 Ethernet card or TrendNet TEW-226PC Wireless card are working, even after the many hours Brandon spent trying to help me today, I don’t even care right now. If I have to, I’ll resort to the old sneaker-net type of networking.
