Well, I’m doing something I swore I’d never do again. Installing WinME. I can’t get Windows 2000 to install due to some “hardware failure” as the installer stated. So, I’m installing Me with hopes of being able to upgrade to Win2k. I just wonder if I could avoid this problem if I had that BIOS upgrade. I should have the battery in a few days and then I can find out I suppose. This just seems like too much work. I’m actually on the edge of installing XP and disabling all the pretty bells and whistles. By the time you add up the space taken by WinME + Win2k, it probably won’t be much different. I just don’t want to devote half of my 6GB hard disk to Windows at all. Maybe I just need to try another Linux distro first before I do something stupid. If ANYONE reading has done Linux on a Thinkpad 600E recently with PCMCIA Ethernet and Wireless cards, let me know OK? I could use a bit of help.

Oh, and I just realized I have to come up with a name for this puppy. Currently on the home network we have “xmainframe” (slightly modified from the name Zion Mainframe when I ran Windows on it) which is my box and “trinity” which is Bonnie’s little computer upstairs. So, sticking with The Matrix theme, any suggestions for a good name for the laptop? I’m kinda leaning towards Tank just to be funny. Merovingian? Mouse? Oracle? Seraph? Let me know…
